In a blender add your chopped up tomatillos, jalapenos (start with one seeded then you can add more later to amp up the spice), a clove or two of garlic, a handful of cilantro (keep the stems as they have a lot of flavor), half a red onion, a little bit of water, and freshly squeezed lime juice. Blend until everything is chopped up to whatever consistency you like. Now you taste. If its not spicy enough add another jalapeno. If it doesn't have enough of the garlic flavor, add another clove or two. Not enough cilantro, onion, lime juice, add it. This recipe really is to your liking so just add until its how you want it to taste. It is super easy and absolutely delicious...and way better than the jarred stuff at the grocery store.

Batman Arkham Knight...Disappointment
Who else was crazy excited for the release of Batman Arkham Knight? After so much hype and awesome trailers for the game, I had pre-ordered the PC game for my husband and myself. Now my husband and I love gaming, when we get a chance, of course (hey we do have 3 kids).
Here is the scenario: I had finally gotten my very cranky kids to bed as it was a very looooooong and hot day and I admit this mommy needed some mommy alone time. After a quick, refreshing shower, I went onto my PC downloaded the game and proceeded to play...well, I tried. When I say it was so ridiculously slow loading, I do not kid. Then once it was downloaded it kept freezing on the main screen. Ok, at this point, I was getting a bit frustrated and wanted to throw my laptop out the window. Once it unfroze enough for me to actually move around, I could barely differentiate what was what. At first I thought, maybe its my connection, but then I heard a groan of frustration from my husband in our office space. He yelled over to me, "Hey what's with this game?!" That is when I went online to see maybe I downloaded it wrong and to see if anyone else was having the same issue. Lo and behold, EVERYONE was having the same issue. I understand that games can have bugs, but with the much anticipated release and really all the hype about it, I was very disappointed. Thankfully, I did get my money back, but what I really wanted is to have a way less buggy game.
Anyone else disappointed by the release of this Batman game?

Super Simple Berry Brownie Trifle
This recipe is one of my go-to recipes if I have a party or function I have to attend. As a mom, sometimes you do not have time or the energy to do something super complicated so you want to take the easy route. The first time I made this was when my husband came home from 6 months away at Army BCT and AIT. Knowing he did not receive the best food since he was training, I wanted to make something delicious but easy since I had 2 kids and not that much time. Soooooo I immediately checked out Pinterest for some ideas after looking around I decided I had the idea of it so I was going to wing it. After a trip to Costco, I was ready to get this done. Needless to say it was a big hit with my husband and kids :)
Super Simple Berry Brownie Trifle
Ingredients
If you have one of those cake stands that can turn into a big trifle bowl, use that if not you can use anything that is big enough for several layers. First layer some brownies to cover the bottom, then cover with cool whip, then layer with the chopped up berries, and repeat the layers until you get to the top. Then you can decorate as you wish. Like I said super easy and yummy too.

Mommy Hero Stats
Hmm...where should I begin? I guess my name is a good start, right? My name is Mommy to three amazing little beasties, but most other people call me Vanessa.
As a mom, I have learned how to juggle kids, cooking, laundry, gaming, couponing, work, church activities, and whatever else I can think of or do. We all have many different facets to who we are so it is truly hard to define who one is as so much makes up who we are. Each of us is unique and individual and ultimately loved by our Creator.
Honestly, I created this blog because I felt compelled to do it by the Lord so maybe I can help someone else through a rough time or maybe lift someone's day. This blog may be a random amalgamation of posts on devotionals, cooking recipes, couponing tips, nerd/gaming news, and whatever else pops up into my fantastical mind.
